Salmon Festival, 2006

If you are familiar with Newfoundland at all I am sure you have heard of the famous Salmon Festival. If not i'll fill you in. This festival is held in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. I have no idea why its called Salmon Festival when it has absolutely not one thing to do with Salmon. For the most part it is just one huge party, especially for the younger out-of-towners. It's like 4 or 5 days of events, the main event being this huge outdoor concert held at Centennial Field. This years lineup included The Fables, Kim Mitchell, Theory of a Deadman, The Trews, Billy Talent, and Live. There is literally thousands of people there. They say there was an influx of about 15-20,000 people to GFW over the weekend. Thats alot considering the population here is only approximately 13,340. I know that since I was 18 or 19 maybe I have never missed one. We always came and stayed at Red Cliff campgrounds. This is a special campground that is only used for the festival every year. I not sure I can do justice just explaining this to you. Picture literally thousands of tents all in a huge big field. I think there is about 1500 campsites with 4 people permitted to a site, so thats 6,000 people all together. Then you have the Bud Big Rig there, a few bands, lots of beer and lots of people...you can only imagine!

This year I had to work...of course, you know my luck. BUT, I was lucky enough that I got off at 4 on Saturday just in time to get over to Donna's for the annual Salmon Festival get-together. Lots of beer, lots of buddies which usually turns into lots of fun. Then about 7ish we went over to the field just in time to catch Billy Talent (who I thought didn't have much talent at all) and then Live. Live was fantastic. We spent the whole night listening to the bands perform from the beer tent. Cory was absolutely loaded, practically falling asleep while standing up.(anyone reading this who knows Cory is saying 'what else is new' right about now). Anyways, a good time was had by everyone I am sure. I have added some photos as well for your viewing enjoyment :-) as i am sure you have already noticed.

Til next time

Changes...

Well hello again...long time no post hey? Haha. Well, I will definately make up for that! Last posting was in August I think. Alot has happened since then. A whole lot. The biggest thing is that I have moved. I resigned from my permanent full-time position at the hospital in Corner Brook, and have taken a temporary full-time job in Grand Falls. Me and the Pussycats have moved in with Cory and Raven. Me and Cory are getting along fine but Raven and the cats are a different story altogether. Puss, the shyest cat, can normally be found on the top shelf in the bedroom closet or under a bed. Fluff has come around a bit and takes Raven on face to face. She gets braver everyday. They've had it out a couple of times, and Raven is usually the one to get the worst of it. It's been pretty entertaining if nothing else...

What else is new? Me and Cory bought a ski-doo...a Bear Cat actually. Hoping to get a few rides in during the winter. We should both be all decked out after christmas if 'Santa' is good to us...now if we could only have some snow...

Nore updates to come...

More pics from the weekend

Strawberry Festival. Sortof

Hey all...Had an excellant weekend camping in Deer Lake. I was so happy that my buds from central made the long trek out this way for the weekend. Friday Night we sat around the fire and a few drinks. Saturday we got up cooked up a scoff for breakyfest. We all got a tan(burn :-) while out all day saturday in the rubber dingy and swimming. The guys had a few rounds of horseshoes while the gals got the BBQ going for supper. We had another fire Saturday night instead of going over to the Strawberry festival. Once again I apoligize for the 'LIE'. I really did think that The Fables were playing. Hahaha...Ahhh, what odds, a good time was had by all without them!!

We finished our weekend with lunch at The Oasis in Pasadena. It's this new bar and grill opened up on the beach. Nice place. Cheap good food.

Anyways...here are a few pics from the weekend

Who I am...

Me apparently

Weird...how strange is it to talk about yourself? I find it very ...weird. And difficult. What to say? I'll start with my birthday I guess. That's as good a start as any. September 11th, if you can believe it, 1976. I'll be a huge 2-9 this year. Before you know it, i'll be 30. Scary.

I am originally from Pasadena, NL. I am currently living in Corner Brook, NL. I work at the local hospital as an X-ray technologist. I graduated in 2003 and have been working there every since.

I have 2 beautiful cats, aka Fluff and Puss Walsh and part owner I guess of a cute puppy named raven whom I share with my boyfriend Cory. I guess Cory has full custody of the dog and i have visiting rights..haha. I can visit her as much as i like, but usually only see her on the weekends as they live in Grand Falls/Windsor...a mere 2 and 1/2 hour drive away!!!

Me & Cory

We both have full time jobs in different towns...As you can image we do alot of driving. I should say that it's me who does almost all of the driving. It sucks really, but we do alright for now. When we get together we play alot of poker with friends, go comping, watch movies...fun stuff. This weekend we are hoping to get a few people out to camp in Deer Lake and go to the Strawberry Festival. Should be good times...

I am a new aunt...to a sweet little boy named Devin. He was born February 22,2005 to my older brother Adam and his wife Roxanne. Still haven't got to see him yet. They all live in Goose Bay, Labrador. Will get to see them in late August for sure.
